Prof Ashrafun Nessa presents "Walking towards light” for IARC's International Women's Day 2019 Symposium

Professor Ashrafunnessa, after graduation from Dhaka Medical College, Bangladesh, received training from home (Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Mitford Hospital, 1984-1988) and abroad (The Royal London Hospital, Rochford Hospital, Queens Park Hospital in UK, 1989-1993), obtained Membership from Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (1993). Since then she is working in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of IPGMR which was later converted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in 1998. Dr Ashrafunnessa obtained PhD from University of Dhaka, in 2004, promoted as Professor of Gynaecological oncology in 2013, obtained Fellowship from RCOG in 2014. She has teaching and clinical experience for more than 30 years and was Local investigator for the “Collaborative study with International Epidemiologic Study of Worldwide Distribution of Type-specific Human Papillomavirus (HPV) DNA in Cancers” with Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), Spain. She is ‘Focal point’ of “Cervical and Breast Cancer Screening Programme” of Government of Bangladesh (GOB) since 2004 and helping to develop screening and coloposcopy clinics. Project Director of ““Electronic Data Tracking with Population based Cervical and Breast Cancer Screening Programme (2018-2021)”. She is author in more than 40 papers (International Publications-22). She Received ‘Figo award in recognition of women obstetricians/gynaecologists’ during 2009.
